The Clothesline Project

If you walk through the first floor of Eckles this week, you may notice several t-shirts hanging from clothesline. No, the staff isn't doing our laundry, we are hosting The Clothesline Project.

The Clothesline Project is a display of shirts created by survivors of gender-based violence. The personal stories and pictures are a testimony to the reality of violence against women and the strength of survivors.

My Sister's Place manages and maintains the Washington DC Clothesline Project. My Sister's Place (MSP) is a shelter for battered women and their children. They provide safe, confidential shelter; programs; education; and advocacy for battered women and their children. Their goal is to empower women to take control of their own lives.

This display is co-sponsored by Neightbor's Project. If you'd like to find out how to volunteer at My Sister's Place or are looking for another community service opportunity, please contact them.
